A new church in a new way.
Both Jesus and the early church were known for gathering around the table, sharing meals with all kinds of people. Long before stone churches and towering cathedrals existed, before sermons echoed from pulpits, there were simple dinner tables where people lived and showed God’s love to one another. This simple act of breaking bread together was a powerful way the Christian faith spread—as people kept returning to the table, saying, “there’s really something to all this!”
At The Hill Top Table, we hope to recreate that same welcoming spirit here in Pittsburgh’s Hilltop neighborhoods. We invite you to join us for a cup of coffee (or tea!) and a cookie or two, to share your stories, questions, doubts, and discoveries about life and faith. If Sunday mornings at church aren’t your thing, if you’ve tried it and stepped away, or if you’re still figuring out what you believe—this space is for you.
Here, we’re building a warm, inclusive community where we grow together in love—loving ourselves, each other, and exploring what God means in our lives. Come as you are, and let’s share the table.
The Hill Top Table is an inclusive, affirming space: people of all races, ages, genders, abilities, and sexualities are welcomed and valued here. Kids and families, too, are invited to come, and childcare is available. Gluten-free treats are always available.
Our greatest commandments when we meet are simple ones as we seek to welcome all people: be kind to one another, listen rather than teach, and don’t be a jerk.
We gather on the first Friday of each month at 6:00pm at the Allentown Senior Center, in the lower level of Hill Top United Methodist Church. We hope you will give it a try.
Look, we don’t totally know what to expect yet either! But come and give it a try, and see if you just might find a reason to come back.
